tw100's challenge #114 - Fever. No spoilers.
"Oh, isn't he a cute little man?" Rhys cooed at the cherub in the pram facing them. Gwen was getting used to how he melted whenever they met an infant in the street, but was not amused when he gave her that pleading look.
"Don't," she said, scowling.
"Can't help it," he sighed. "Those round cheeks..!"
She softened, not for the baby in the pram, but for Rhys's tenderness. "Well, you're better than Myfanwy. Last time she was brooding, she brought home twins."
"Not hers, I take it."
Gwen's eyes twinkled. "Humans. Not easy to explain, let me tell you."

Whoops, it's 1 a.m., how did that happen?

Wouldn't you like to be the Torchwood member who had to face that mom?
I figure it would take two! For example...
"What are we supposed to say?" Ianto fretted. "'Good news, your children definitely weren't stolen by a giant prehistoric bird creature from Cardiff'?"
Gwen rolled her eyes. "Just grab a baby and follow my lead."
Gwen had to admit to herself that it was among the more ridiculous situations to have to cover up. When the farm wife answered the door and saw the twins in their arms, she shrieked and clutched at all four of them, infants and adults alike. Her sobs drowned out Gwen's somewhat broken attempts to explain, in Welsh, that the Child Protection Service had no idea how the babies had ended up on the pavement in front of the Millennium Tower, swaddled in—"What's the word for pillowcases?" she asked Ianto.
Ianto took over in perfect Welsh and had more luck. But then, amid sniffles, the mother began sniffing at the babies. Her questioning look when she lifted her head was exactly what Gwen had been hoping to avoid.
"Ah, yes," Ianto continued in Welsh, "you may find that the children have developed a taste for... raw fish."
"We can't explain that, either, mae'n ddrwg gen i," Gwen added. The woman was looking more incredulous by the second.
"Nothing to do with their babysitter catching food in the bay and regurgitating it for them, we're sure of that!" Ianto said brightly in English, grunting as Gwen kicked him in the calf.
"Iechyd da!" Gwen said, smiling broadly as she pulled Ianto away. "We'll keep our dinosaur inside the next time she wants to lay eggs," she continued under her breath.
Back at the SUV, she volunteered to drive. Ianto acquiesced—
"As long as that doesn't mean I have to tell Tosh that one of the babies vomited on the instrument panel behind the driver's seat."
