But you know how fandom stuff goes, sometimes you just get extra obsessed and it has to come out some way. I'll keep my pencil sharp. :)
I think this was part of him letting the Doctor off the hook - of Jack making his graceful exit, dignity intact, and of not burdening the Doctor with his (Jack's) own... stuff.
