Torchwood drabble: The Cell | Tosh | PG

Title: The Cell
Author: [livejournal.com profile] rustydog
Characters: Toshiko
Rating/warnings: PG for bleakness; spoiler for 2x12 Fragments
Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] tw100 challenge #157 Heat.

Whether it was an intimidation tactic or UNIT simply hadn't paid its utility bill, it didn't matter. There had been no heat in Tosh's cell for two days.

The worst part of moderate hypothermia was the uncontrollable shivering, but at least it distracted her from the bluish tinge of her skin.

In a small grate high in the wall, a plastic ribbon began to flutter. Tosh raised herself clumsily and lifted one arm; her fingertips just reached. After a minute, she sensed the warmth, in burning needles and pins. The pain was the best thing she had felt for weeks.

Oh poor Tosh, lots of atmosphere here.

Guh. Nicely written, so much atmosphere, and you can imagine your mind getting to this point when you've been imprisoned like that. Nice job.

Very atmospheric - poor Tosh. Great job.

Awesome! I'd been considering writing something about Tosh's incarceration, but I couldn't decide if it was more likely that Unit would have things be too cold or too hot. Great "answer" to the question.

This was so simple and atmospheric, you could really feel for Tosh. It almost echoed her own situation - she's trapped in a cell and there's no heat, there's no sugar coating or elaborations.

I could really almost feel it.

::pets Tosh:: Thank you!

Solitary confinement can do awful things to your mind. Poor Tosh.

Thank you for the lovely comment!

Thank you! I started out just wanting, for my own pleasure, to imagine something cold, and then it got... dark. I'm sorry, Tosh!

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Great minds. :) With the way they imprisoned Tosh, I wouldn't put it past UNIT to use cold sometimes and heat other times to make her uncomfortable, or worse.

Thank you!

That's a great compliment, thank you! I really wanted it to be stark, I'm glad it worked.

heart breaking, poor Tosh.

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2010-06-26 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Fortunately Jack will be coming along to rescue her sooner or later. :) But it's really horrible she had to go through it at all.

[identity profile] takisys.livejournal.com 2010-06-26 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
yep really. I made a fic about these about Jack taking her out and bring her to Torchwood, I'll have to rewrite it en English, though.

Ouch! Poor Tosh. The worst part is that this is so believable, judging from what was shown in Fragments =(

::nods:: I didn't really have to stretch my imagination at all to get there. :( Poor Tosh!
